Current Operating Policy. Because of its situation generally within the long narrow valley of the Rea Brook (Main River) the Board’s principal concem is the transfer of the rain fall on the catchment area outside the Board’s area through the area into the Main River (the responsibility of the Environment Agency) which flows through the length of the Drainage District and the satisfactory maintenance of which is essential to the Board’s operations.
Regular inspection is made of the Board’s water courses and maps and a full list of these is available from the Board’s office.

The majority of the water courses have been maintained by a regular outside contractor on three yearly basis, although some require more frequent attention.
